DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THE FOLLOWING SOURCES FOR CUSTOM ART - THEY WON'T WORK!!!
- Those cute little 15 bit files usually come out lousy. Also - saving a file at 300 dpi if it wasn't 300 dpi to start with doesn't work. (You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear by saving a low resolution graphic at a higher resolution.)
- Word Processor Documents such as: Word Perfect, Quality goes way down hill when I have to scan something printed - especially from an ink jet original.
- Graphics inserted in an e-mail - you need to attach the file, there is no easy way to extract the art.
- Digital Camera Photos usually work well for a background.
- PDF files can not be edited.
- Any Photoshop file with a resolution lower than 300 dpi at 100% printed size
- Any CAD Programs

MORE GUIDELINES FOR YOUR ART:
- Keep all your art clean and simple.
- Please do not create or include halftones, dithered dots or Gray areas in your Black & White artwork.
For ribbons, Wooden Nickels, and engraved items Black & White Line Art is a must. These files must be created, scanned, and/or saved as two color (line art setting) - not greyscale. Greyscale art has a lot of shading that turns into pure garbage when reproduced as black & white. Check out Hagar the Horrible, Blondie, or Beetle Bailey in the Comics section of your local newspapers - don't send art with thinner lines than the artists use in these strips.
- Art must be 200% actual size (if finished size is 3"x4" or under - actual size is O.K. for larger projects).
- Use a 1/8" imaginary border (at finished size) or 1/4" border (at 200%) - We can't bleed off the edge of the plate.
- All lines must be a minimum .25 pt. thickness at finished size. Thinner lines will not print.
- All art and graphics must be sent with a transparent background or as a spot color if you want us to use a color other than white behind your work.
- You can send a description of your logo (or a FAX to 413-235-7262) - and we'll use something similar from our artwork library.
- Files over 1 Meg sometimes get hung up in e-mail (particularly if you use AOL.) If you have lots of graphics either send us a pc compatible CD or try to send separate e-mails with each graphic attached to its own e-mail.

IF YOU SEND A JPEG FOR ORIGINAL ART ......
- We can use your jpeg but what you send is what you get. Art on a white background will be printed with a white background. Fuzzy type and "watery" backgrounds stay fuzzy and watery. In other words, we can't touch up a jpeg or use part of the image and set type for the rest. When in doubt -- call me! (330) 874-2492
